Head For The Central Coast

Sydney Morning Herald

Thursday February 26, 1987

THE Central Coast is just as popular for retirement village living as the North Shore. Lakefront Retirement Village, on the foreshore of Tuggerah Lake in Evans Road, Toukley, is a good example of the type of village being built.

It is large enough to provide all facilities for on-going care, but small enough for the residents to preserve their own identities. Toukley boasts the largest and one of the best senior citizens' centres in Australia.

Construction on Lakefront Retirement Village began late in 1985. There was such a strong demand in the area that the three stages of building were accelerated and the total village complex is complete.

The village is next to a reserve planted with tropical palms on the foreshore of Tuggerah Lake. It is close to the ocean, lovely bushwalks and all amenities. The village has its own swimming pool and spa.

Self-contained two-bedroom units are priced from $68,000 to $78,000. All have good accommodation, including garages.

The units may be bought on a 99-year lease. The management will repurchase them if the owner leaves.

Hostel apartments cost about $45,000. All units have a kitchenette, bathroom and private balcony or courtyard. The maintenance levy, 85 per cent of the single pension, covers all meals, weekly cleaning, electricity and other items.
