WELL known and loved as a holiday destination, the Central Coast is also a popular retirement area.
Its scenic beauty, facilities and relaxed lifestyle are among the drawcards for people wanting quality accommodation and services to accompany their retirement.
Among the centres offering such attractions is the Lakefront Retirement Village at Toukley, which has just received approval from Wyong council for development of a new community centre building.
The council has also given the go-ahead for 68 new villa units at the village.
`This will enable us to meet the demand for self-care units,' said Mr James Kelly, representing the village owners, Intasand Pty Ltd.
While we currently have assisted care apartments available, most of our villa units have been taken up.'
Mr Kelly said the owners aimed to have Lakefront Village recognised as the leading resort-style retirement village on the Central Coast.
`We have now completed the refurbishment of the existing village, including a fit-out of all the units, landscaping, the pool and the dining room,' he said.
`We have also provided a newvillage bus.'
Mr Kelly said the village had also appointed a leading retirement village manager, Residential Lifestyle Services, to ensure that care and service at Lakefront matched the improved facilities.
Members of the local community will be invited into the village soon to see the facilities for themselves.
Residential Lifestyle Services will announce soon a series of free seminars, to be held in Lakefront's existing community centre.
Topics will include such subjects as nutrition, caring for aged parents and dealing with dementia.
The seminars will be open for all interested people.
