THE eyes of 9million viewers from around the world could be on Toukley for the two-day Formula One Superboat Series on Budgewoi Lake next March.

That is the estimated exposure international, national and regional television coverage could bring to the area, event organisers say.

Hundreds of competitors and their supporters are expected to spend plenty on food, accommodation and entertainment in the area.

Greater Toukley Vision spokeswoman Gwen Abrahams has estimated that the event will attract 6000 to 7000 people. ``We do really well out of it," she said.

Despite the noise generated by the speed boats, Mrs Abrahams said complainants had been quiet following this year's event.

``I understand there was one complaint, which was something to do with a photographer on a private jetty," she said

Wyong Shire Council has contributed $6000 to the event in return for television coverage.
